Using Ubuntu

Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) is out.

Latest full release is Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex).  Released 31st October 2008.

• Updating website for new version 8.10
• A new Guestbook has been added to the site incorporating spam protection.
• Reorganisation of website to separate beginners' and more advanced topics
• Ongoing minor updates and additions.

• Finishing off updating site for the new version of Ubuntu (Hardy Heron - v8.04 LTS) - particularly extra installation options including Wubi to install within Windows and Minimal Install with reduced requirements for low spec computers. 
• Spam protection for guestbook is under investigation
• Guestbook temporarily closed due to being swamped with spam.  It will be re-opened when spam protection has been added.  Meanwhile comments and suggestions may be emailed to comments@ginad.org.uk
• Countdown to the release of the next version of Ubuntu
• Working on giving the guestbook some spam protection in view of the amount of spam we're getting
• The Guestbook fault that has caused loss of entries is fixed hopefully. 
• New Guestbook installed with improved appearance though without the anti-spam feature.  The old guestbook has been removed but entries carried over to the new one.
