Thanks for your reply. I have uninstalled 9.04 and have installed 8.10. So far I continue not to be able to connect my wireless. I am going to try the ubuntu forum for ideas.

Hi Tom

Sorry for taking a while to reply.

I'm having problems with wireless in 9.04 too and have reverted to 8.10 which works fine.

Having other problems with 9.04 too - AMD64 system freezes

Hi Gina, I installed Ubuntu 9.04 using the wubi method and all went well. I discovered I had no web access and tried using your instructions. What I found is that "Using the older method (earlier versions)" did not apply. I found that System>Preferences>Network Connections>Wireless Tab seemed to get me close. But still no luck. I am pretty much stopped until I get a wireless connection. At home I have to connect via my home LAN. Can you help with setting up wireless in 9.04 ubuntu? TIA Tom

Hi Raj
If you are currently running a server version, upgrading will give you the server version of 9.04. In other words upgrading will give you the newest version of what you have. If you want to change to the server version from desktop etc. you will need to re-install (as I understand it).

Hope that helps - good luck.

Thank you everyone for your comments I am now about to do some updates on the site. To cater for the new 9.04 release and add items suggested by users, such as a Linux Glossary as suggested by Mike. I'm also hoping to provide myself with a Reply feature for the Guestbook. The Guestbook appearance is something that needs work too but probably a lower priority - at least it works.

Epic work! Saw your comment on circuit drawing on net4nowtforum - I use gEDA, even for complex multi-layer PCBs. About the middle button / laptop thing - you know you can press both at once for middle click?

I have tried Ubuntu in the past and am in the process of doing a dual boot on a spare Dell I have. I started college this year and am taking CNET courses. My instructors told me we will be using Open Solaris, so I want to get a jump on it.`Thanks for the help.

Hi,Gina
Excellent work with the website for us newbies. I really intend to try LINUX and Ubuntu, however without a Guru site such as yours and others, my attempts will fail and I will be stuck forever with MS.

The biggest problem so far is understanding the LINUX lingo and the proper use of the Terminal commands.
Thanks for this site, at least I know where to start.

regards, Mike
